A jury recently found Five Star Video guilty of transporting the obscene Adult DVD Gag Factor 18 interstate by a common carrier. Ironically enough they were previously acquitted of a similar charge for American Bukakke 13 & Filthy Things 6.
So why was this particular DVD deemed to be too obscene?
Wikipedia claims that a previous DVD, Gag Factor 13:
This series is responsible for one of the most controversial moments in porn. In Gag Factor 13 actress Soma stops an act mid-scene and says she does not want to continue. The producer tells Soma that she must continue if she wants her money, and she eventually walks off the set distraught. The producer then says “Sorry you had to see that.” and begins laughing. On at least one version of “Gag Factor 13″, however, “Soma” is seen completing the scene. At no point does she say she wants to stop or walks off the set. However, the scene was obviously shot in 2 separate segments because the edit is clearly visible when she goes from having smeared blue eye makeup to no eye makeup at all in the closing minutes of the scene.
Whilst many view Gagging as obscene there’s no doubt that it has a niche market all to itself. The Gag Factor website for example labels its girls as “victims” which gives an air of dominance. The series has also won various AVN awards for the best oral themed series.
